Xero offers free counselling for customers

Xero has announced a pilot programme of free counselling and support for their customers and accounting partners. Employers are able to access this service and offer it to their employees through the Xero Assistance Programme.

Mental health statistics in New Zealand make for sobering reading. Suicide rates continue to climb. In the year to June 30, 2019, 685 people took their lives according to statistics from the Chief Coroner. That compares with a road toll of 377 lives lost for the whole of 2018. Men continue to be more at risk.

Xero recognises the need for mental health support for small to medium businesses in New Zealand who often don’t have the resources to offer tangible support to their employees.

The counselling service will be made available through Xero’s own provider, Benestar. Users will have the option of telephone, live chat, online or face-to-face counselling.

The service is being offered in conjunction with the Mental Health Foundation. It is available to all businesses using the Xero Starter, Standard and Premium Plans.

Mental health is getting increased focus from employers and the government alike. Many business owners simply don’t know where to start. This initiative from Xero is incredibly valuable and they should be applauded for this leadership. They believe that businesses can make a sizeable impact on mental health in this country.

If your business would like to learn more, you can find more information from the Xero Assistance Programme site.

I have no use for bodyguards, but I have a very specific use for two highly trained accountants.
